
Every year consists of thirteen months and a day (Fool's Day).
The months are named as follows:
1. Nivôse/Frer (Snowmonth/Frostmonth). A dark and gloomy month. The world may have endured another year, but yet there is but little light. Mid-winter
2.Pluviôse/Thorri (Rainmonth/Hoarmonth); Men's month.Late winter.
As winter tapers to an end, larders diminish and cabin fever is rampant.
3. Vental/Gói (Windmonth/Manuremonth); Early spring. Spring comes,
and it is time to fertilize the fields. Women's month. This is the most meagre
month of the year, as the winter's stores are exhausted, and there is yet
no new bounty to harvest. The dragons begin to awaken.Imbolc
- Candlemas.
4.Germinal/Stekk (Seedmonth/Lambmonth); Mid-spring. Lambing and sheep
slaughter. Boys' month; Ostara - the spring
equinox.
5. Floréal/Harpa (Flowermonth/?); Girls' month. Late spring. Beltane.
6.Prairidor/Skerpla (Meadowmonth/?); Early summer.
7. Thermidor/Sol (Heatmonth/Sunmonth); Sunmonth. Midsummer
8. Messidor/Hayannir (Harvestmonth/Haymonth). Late summer. Fodder is stored
for the winter
9. Fructidor/Kornskurda (Fruitmonth/Grainmonth); Early autumn. The
corn is cut.
10. Vendémiaire/Haust (Vintagemonth/Harvestmonth); Mid-autumn. Harvest;
Fruits, berries, vegetables and mushrooms are gathered. Mabon
- the autumn equinox.
11. Brumaire/Sìl (Fogmonth/Latemonth). Late autumn. Animals
brought back from pasture.
12. Frimôse/Gòr (Frostmonth/?). Early winter. Slaughtermonth. All Hallows' - Samhain
13. Natôse Ýlir. Yulemonth; Yuletide, Midwinter.
The Franks divide the year into four seasons.
The spring begins with Candlemas at the beginning of Gòi (01.03), passes its equinox (07.04) and lasts until Beltane, the first day of summer, in the middle of Harpa (14.05), lasting a total of 70 days.
The summer begins with Beltane (14.05), peaks at Midsummer (14.07) and ends with Lammas (14.09), lasting a total of 112 days.
The autumn begins with Lammas (14.09), passes its equinox (21.10) and ends with Samhain (01.11), lasting a total of 70 days.
The winter begins with Samhain (01.11), peaks at Midwinter (28.13), followed by Fools' Day (the day between the years) and ends with Candlemas (01.03), lasting a total of 113 days.
