These three kinds of creatures are all said to combine serpentine and humanoid features.
Furthermore, each is a scourge upon humanity, though mercifully rare. All are said to feast on human flesh.
The serpentines are often associated with the two queens of the underworld - Hecate and Echinda.
It is said by some say that the serpentines are remains of one or more serpentine races whom were old when the giants were young.
Others draw a line between the serpentines and elves, either as a kind of elf, or the spirits of elves, serving their mistresses in death, much as they did in life.
Some say that they are older spirits, daimones without any connection to this world save as an extension of Kur's maliciousness.
Gorgoi (singular: gorgo) "grim ones" are described as erect humanoids with snakes in place of hair and a petrifying gaze. Death walk alongside the gorgoi. Few reliable reports exist, as any credible witness would presumably be a piece of statuary.
Some say gorgoi were seen in the Civil War of the Confederacy, but others claim that these were sorcerous creations of one kind or another, not true gorgoi.
Lamiae (singular lamia) are creatures of temptation. Lamiae eat the blood and flesh of the living, and are particularily fond of the flesh of babes and the young. Unlike the scavenging ghouls, lamiae need living prey.
Lamiae are very beautiful, but they are also creatures who have mastered stealth, deception and lies, and it is said that the lower body of a lamia is in truth that of a snake, and that the lamiae are hideous creatures who hide their true forms with glamours.
Whether their true forms are fair or foul, the lamiae hunt like spiders, drawing humans into a web of beauty and sensuality, catering carefully to their appetites, offering their own supple forms and a surfeit of illusion. At the same time, they feed on their victims' blood and eventually on their flesh as well.
Lamiae are generally referred to as female, and it is unclear whether there are male lamiae, or whether the females breed in some other fashion.
Mormoi (singular: mormo), "hideous ones" are said to be similar to gorgoi and lamiae, but lack the absolute lethality of the former and the glamourous beauty of the latter.
Mormoi are serpentine humanoids, vile and unthinkable, horrors that lurk and feed.
