Humans have five digits on each extremity, rounded ears, teeth of three shapes, no more than 32 teeth, and raised foreheads.
All of the human races are taller than four feet and shorter than eight feet, with most being five feet and some inches tall. Members of the upper classes are usually taller than commoners, due to better nutrition and health care (two inches on the average).
Whereas the human subraces have different "typical" complexions, there is no fixed complexion. The farther south one lives, the darker one is tanned by the heat and the sun. A pale Fraeging living for decades in Ifrikia will grow dark, though not quite as dark as the natives, and any children he sires while his skin is dark will inherit some of his tan.
The human skin tone seems to have a general ruddy tendency, contrasted with the other races.
The four major races of humanity in Cargandom are the Atrahasites, the Aigimoreans, the Fraegings and the Moraths. Average heights for females are 2'' less than average male heights.
Aigimiorean: The Aigimioreans are of average height (5' 6'') and build, pale-skinned (yet usually tanned to olive), dark-eyed and dark-haired. Aigimioreans are particularily subject to sanguine and phlegmatic humours. They came originally from the land to the south of the Mare Interior and north of the Atrahasite lands. The Aigimiorean race is the majority in the Clemencian lands and most of the Cargan empire and is found, pure or mixed breed, in Senion (frequent), Avation, Pacar and the Confederacy
The Aigimioreans, being founders of both the Aigimiorean and the Cargan empire, have had a tremendous cultural influence on other groups, and the Cargan and Frankish languages are of Aigimiorean origin.
Atrahasite: The Atrahasites are of less than average height (5' 4'') and average build. They have aquilline or even hawk noses. Their hair and beard grows black and straight. Their complexion is dusky, but if kept from light, it can become quite pale. These days, most atrahasites speak a language known as Haramean, but their eldest tongue is the Iqunean. They are given to cerebral and phlegmatic humours.
The Atrahasites claim to be the oldest race, decended from Atrahasis, who, adviced by Enki, built a great boat and saved his people from the flood.
Fraegings: The Fraegings are taller and stronger than the other human races (5' 10''. average ST 11). The Fraegings are pale-skinned, and tend to sunburn easily. Fraegings tend to be tall, pale, and light-haired. Hair colour ranges from flaxen, through various shades of blond to light brown. Red hair is not unusual, nor are freckles. Some of them have blue, green or grey eyes. They are predisposed to choleric and melancholic humours.
Fraegings have closer ties with dwarves than other human race. Some legends indicate that much of their culture was taught to them by the dwarves.
On the other hand, the Fraegings are even more fearful of elves and the like than other human subraces.
Morath: The Moraths tend to be of average build and slightly tall (5' 8'') . They have a fair complexion. Hair colour ranges from dark blond and red through dark to black. Facial features vary, but Moraths tend to have brown eyes. They are prone to sanguine and choleric humours.
The non-clemencian Franks, and the natives of Dorannia, Carrancoch, Bôth and Morda, as well as the majority of people the Cargan Empire are of predominantly Morath stock.
While there were once a great number of Morath tongues, there are now only Bôthic (spoken by the people of Both) and Carrantongue (spoken in Carrancoch). Most speak either Cargan or Frankish (which is derived from Cargan and Morath tongues).
Antediluvians vary a lot in height across regions, but tend to be about 5' 5'' tall. They are built like wrestlers, stocky, with muscular arms and legs, and barrel-chested torsos. They have slick, raven-black hair, and very dark irises. Northern Antediluvians have skin ranging in colour from snow white via old ivory to fresh breadcrust. Southern Antediluvians have skin ranging from mahogany to ebony. All tend to be strong , dexterous and hardy.
Antediluvians are less noted for their physical fortitude, and more for their primitive ways. They are universally dull-witted and tend to be primitive . They suffer under Social Stigma - Barbarian in the eyes of all, save their own people.
Andediluvians have a tendency towards phlegmatic and (less so) melancholic humour. They are less cerebral than any other human race, but are also less given to psychosis, and take in a stride what more refined men balk at (often Composed, Collected or Imperturbable). They are given to depression, though, and Alcoholism is the scourge of their race.
Antediluvians across the continents seem to share an almost universal custom for tattooing, though the techniques vary somewhat. They speak different languages from region to region. These languages are related to each other, but not to those of other human races. There are no written Antediluvian languages.
Little is known of the bythiae, they may be a hidden subrace of mankind, a genetic atavism, a common kind of mooncalf or chimera, sorcerers who have renounced their humanity, or possibly half-humans, progeny of demons, elves, or some other thing.
A bythios looks like a common postdiluvian on cursory inspection. However, their eyes have two pupils.
Furthermore, they are magical perversions of nature. Their gaze is noxious, their presence brings ill fortune, and their falling nature is very weak, so that they can leap of cliffs and not be injured, and do not sink in water. Bythiae are considered to be sorcerers, one and all, and may be capable of concealing their double pupils, hence the water-test is considered the best
Bythiae seem to shun the company of other bythiae, they are encountered singly...
Albinoi ("the whiting") have skin as pale as bone, hair as white as snow, and sea-green irises. Albinoi wake in the night and sleep in the day, their skin and eyes are burned by the light of the sun.
Macrobii ("the long-lived) are said to live longer than any other human race, some say they never feel the pains of old age. They are also said to be the tallest of all men. A macrobios is hairy and has skin the colour of butter. Macrobii are said to eat snakes, locusts and other repulsive creatures.
Melodonts (black toothers) have blue-black hair, dark eyes and black teeth. They live in the southern areas of Azanay.
Minibii ("the shortlived) are said to have half the lifespan of most humans, and be short of stature as well. They are bald and have enormous, floppy ears

Sciapodae ("shadowfeet) are also known as monocoli ("one-legs"). They are tall humanoids who move very swiftly on a single, large foot. They are also said to rest in the shade of their foot. There is a general agreement that they have large ears and dark skin. Beyond this, few things can be said for certain. Travellers speak of diverse grotesqueries of form, but reports are conflicting. Sciapodae are said to be the most truth-loving of all races.

Few people of Cargandom have ever seen a sciapod, as they live in the far south and west.
Anipodae are people who may live on the underside of the world, where the sun may shine at night, and the earth is above and the air below.
How such people would live is a matter of conjecture, some argue that they may have an inverse falling nature, and would fly off the world is taken to the upper side. Others claim that they must have great feet with prehensile toes by which they hang onto the "ground" like bats. The idea that antipodae might bound around on their heads is regarded by most as a childish fancy.
Whether antipodae are men or some other race is also debated
The antipodae are regarded by most as simply a bold hypothesis, though others claim that they must necessarily exist, and still others that people at the edges of the world - Anomians, Cimmerians and/or Arismapians have congress with them.
Many decry that the true antipodae are demons, and that Hades lies on the other side of the world, that the sun dusks as it sets, and in these hellish regions down is up and up is down. Hence the discussions of antipodae are heretical.
Blind people have their "third eye open", they can sense the supernatural.
Disabled infants are punishment for their parents' sins, but may also be the result of a sorcerer's curse.
Mooncalves need human flesh to avoid wasting away. A healthy mooncalf is certainly a cannibal.
Redhaired people are unreliable and have hot tempers.
