The Great Elfwood is a vast realm, densely grown with forest. Its trees were old even at the time of the Wizard Lords.
The Great Elfwood is an elven homeland. They guard their realm viciously, killing all who pass their borders, with no warning except the standing stones which mark the border. These are few and far apart, however, and one can pass the border without seeing such a marker.
Little is known of the Great Elfwood. It is said that at the heart of the realm is the elven capital, a many-spired city of white elfstone, rising from an enchanted lake.
It is said that the elves live with many strange creatures, gnomes, centaurs, werewolves, mermaids, dragons, walking trees, talking animals, winged midgets and many other improbable creatures. Many travellers will claim to have visited the realm, but will be lacking in evidence to support their claims.
It is agreed that the Great Elfwood is a very rich realm, the elves hoarding milennia-old wealth. Certain luxuries of elven produce reach human markets - aetheral thistledown silk and narcotic elfwine. These goods are rare and are worth their weight in silver, or more.
