Algica

Algica is the northernmost principality of the Magocratic Confederation. To the west, the country borders on Pacar, to the north, the Elven Hills separate it from the mysterious realm of Syoshamral. At its northeastern border the Gnomish Realm servers as a buffer betwen Algica and the lofty mountains of Daverûghaimar. Algica's eastern border is towards the icy peaks of the White Mountains. Most of Algica is gently sloped river valleys, with rolling hills making up the majority of the remainder. It a verdant country.

This land has a climate much like that of Avation and Pacar, with warm summers and cold winters. Too chilly for vinyards, the land is parceled out in numerous fields and orchards.

The land derives no small portion of its wealth from the gold mines found in its hills. These mines are doubtlessly the richest on human hands, though it is rumored that their dwarven neighbours brood over even greater wealth in the mountains to the northeast

Algicans are bodily much like other Franks, and having been spared of the terrors of the Civil War, the principality has fewer mooncalves than any of the other principalities. The typical Algican is reserved and formalistic. Algican commoners and sorcerers alike wear heavily brocaded robes if they can afford to do so, and the Esoteric Order of the Golden Ring, Algica's dominant sorcerous order, is known for its finery.

Argrany is the Algican capital and the main port of its western part. It is a city of brick, granite and shale, with numerous domes and towers. Fabulously wealthy from the country's gold mines, the city is nontheless somewhat dour. What it lacks in colour, it makes up in monuments. Few other cities can boast of such impressive marble statuary, though some say that Argrany's citizens should have paid more attention to quality and less to size.

Dobé is a large harbour city, serving as Algica's eastern port. It is no smaller than Argrany, and considerably more cheerful, with whitewashed houses and red roof tiles.

The Elven Harbour: Algica is the site of the only known settlement of elves in human lands. Indeed, this settlement is the only whose precise location is known. Here the elves engage in some trade, selling thistledown silk, medicinal herbs. More importantly, they maintain a small fleet of ships here.

The Algicans are seen as being the most conservative and formalistic of the Confederationists, and their lords sometimes speak in favour of the time of the magelords, claiming that great innovations were made at the time. This principality also houses a number of noble houses whose power is still very real. During the Civil War, the Algican principality remained neutral. Therefore they accept no part of the blame for the devastation wrought by the conflict in the three participating principalities.
