Terfer is the northernmost vassal of the Count of Tartor. Wedged between the Wasteland Forest to the northeast, and hilly highlands to the west, Terfer sits square on the Old Right Road.
The ruling seat of the fief is the citadel of Tour Gârpase. It was raised by royal command after the great battle in 6506, and the banneret family of Tyrigne was tasked with upkeeping this border between Sontelle, Tartor, Gronne-Haute and Gronne-Base.This old keep watches over the Old Right Road, and stands sentinel over the Wasteland Forest. From its apex, one can see into four counties (and thereby three duchies) on a clear day.
The largest settlement is the small market town of Terfer. Had the Old Right Road been more travelled, Terfer might have seeen significant commerce, what travellers do pass offer only enough trade to give the town a slight touch of urbanity. The town is situated on or near an ancient battlefield, where farmers have been finding old implements of war for as long as anyone can recall. The crops of rust were replenished in 6506, when a great battle was fought here over the Pretension of Prince Felix.
The arms of Tyrines-de-Terfer are noir in chief, in base a field sinoble, giving issue to three swords proper, slanted sinister.
A grim and morbid lot, the Tyrigne family pride themselves on their warrior heritage. Their more prosperous neighbours have been known to remark that they have little else to be proud of.
