Viscomtet Raphel de Montcuivre, Bailli of Gronne-Haute, Lieutenant-Colonel of the Army of Ramorose

Raphel de Montcuivre is but an inch short of six feet tall. His body is large but not powerful, swathed in a thick layer of fat. His shoulders are rounded, and his girth is great. He is noted for his clumsy movements and ineptitude on the field of glory, but his poise is erect, and he moves his hands deftly.

Raphel's features are pleasant, with a clear-cut aquilline nose, dark, pensive eyes, sensual lips, fine teeth and clear, pale skin. However, Raphel's visage is marred by the jowl of fat under his chin, smoothing out the square jaw of the Montcuivres, and giving his face an overall round appearance.

The Viscomtet favours billowing tunics of cloth-of-gold and loose-cut hose. He usually dresses in black or ultramarine.

The Viscomtet is widely known for his keen intellect, administrative and legal skill. He is also an avid chess-player. During the campaign,he has shown remarkable knowledge of strategy and tactics, but has not gone into battle himself. From his youth, he has been known as an abysmal warrior, beaten in most of the jousts he participated in.

The Viscomtet was Bailli of Gronne-Haute, but fled the land in the spring of '89, alleging that he felt unsafe after his brother had fallen to the sword of Baronet Francois de Bois-Alsante. The filial love between Raphel and Yanitole the Montcuivre was very great, though Raphel was often contrasted unfavourably with his younger brother. He and his brother were the most vocal supporters of the Regency in Gronne-Haute, and also were overtly hostile to the dwarves of Naras. His hatred of the Baronet and the dwarves is a matter of public record.

Raphel is married to Catharina of Chênefort, and has gained control of some land in the north through this marriage. He is also heir to the lands of Montcuivre.

The Viscount is nicknamed "the Hawk's Egg", though it would be unwise to use this name to his face.
