A Cargan mercenary general, Theodoric has been hired by the aging Count of Gronne-Base to train his troops and conduct his battles. Little is known in Avation of his past.
The Condottiere-General's Avatine achievements are so far limited to collecting a number of mercenaries, the men-at-arms of the Ramorose family and a multitude of men seeking their fortune as soldiers, and giving them some cohesion. He has focused on building the infantry forces of Ramorose, leaving the cavalry to the native noblemen. He is given grudging respect by the noblemen, hated by commoners, and admired by his men.
Theodoric Lystnius Amary is hideously scarred, the left side of his face and forehead is a malforemed mass of scar tissue whence a sunken, displaced eye stares malignantly. The right half shows a man of rough features and strong chin, tan, dark-eyed and with receeding, graying hair. His disfigurement has earned him the universal nickname of "Demiface".
