Lombé

Of all the counties in Corguin, Lombé has the strongest claim to being "in the middle of nowhere". Lying inland, south of the Tibellu, the county is gravelly highland, less fertile than most of Avation, and though it rains a lot in the spring, hot summers sometimes leads to drought in the county. Herds of sheep are omnipresent in the county, but so are predators, most importantly dragons. The lords of Lombé have learned to kill dragons with proficiency, but have also learned that as the dragons grow great, it is more feastible to feed them than to slay them.

Lomville, the county capital, is a sleepy market town. The town's artisans serve the modest local demand. Few goods are imported or exported from Lomville.

The village Le Mort Des Trois Sous ("The Death of The Three Pennies") is the sleepy home of some 270 souls, including two cobblers, a tavernkeeper, a tailor and a miller. The local tavern has a couple of rooms, rented to travellers who try for a shortcut between Taroine and Usur.

Many of the young knights of Lombé are too poor to afford proper warhorses, and fight on foot, commonly wielding two-handed weapons such as pollaxes, becs-des-corbins or flails.

The Count of Lombé has a famous houseguard, The Dragonslayers, which will only accept warriors who have slain a dragon personally, though it accepts knights and serjeants equally. The Dragonslayers are well respected in the battlefield, but somewhat less so at court, as some of the rich and powerful have taken offense at their rather stringent membership condition.

The lord of Lombé are seen as the foremost warmongers in Corguin, their poverty combined with their martial skill makes any offensive a tempting proposition.
