The Viscounty of Molagne is at the lower end of the Gronne-Haute baillage, bordering in the north on Sontelle and in the west and south on Tartor. It also shares a minute border with Gronne-Base. With twice the size and five times the population of the smallest barony in the county, the lands of Molagne are indeed rich and fertile, with a thousand square miles of largely arable land, and ca 100 000 inhabitants.
The sole and excellent resource of the land is its rich and well-irrigated loam, where fields of wheat, legumes and vegetables, as well as orchards of fruit. The Molagne exports fine port wines and brandies, as well as bringing food to the tables of both Dephille and Naras. The lords of Molagne are noted as fine horse-breeders.
The chief township in Molagne is Melea, the seat of the Viscount of Molagne. Seated on the north bank of the Gronne, some 26 miles from Naras overland, and a leuca (three miles) shorter by the Gronne. Barges coming up the river tend to stop here for the night.
Downstream from Melea is Romre, and to the north of Melea, at the border of Molagne as well as of the county and the duchy, is the agrarian town of Latiluppe.
The Molagnes are traditionally the most powerful vassals of the Count of Gronne-Haute. They have decreased in power relative to the Champs-Bluets and (especially) the Montcuivres after the copper mining began in earnest. However their cavalry forces are still unmatched in the Gronne-Haute, and may prove decisive when high and low Gronne meet.
