Courite

Courite - the Capital of Avation

The city of Courite is the greatest city in all of the Free Kingdoms.

The main streets of Courite include Avenue de Roi, which runs from the royal castle to the Grand Market, Le Boulevard, which runs along the inside of the Old Wall, Rue de Mercières (merchants of cloth), and Rue de Dentelles - where the laceworkers have their shops.

The Cape, a district which is primarily residential, but which also includes the houses of various envoys, and a few eateries and boutiques. Several foreign groups have taken advantage of the sinking land prices, and moved into grander buildings. These include The Queen's Emissary of Senion, The Consul of the Confederacy, the Clementian Envoys and the Lodge of Sorcerers.

The Seaside covers an area two or three blocks up from the quays.

The Old Town is all of the area inside the first wall, which is neither Seaside, Dock nor Rookery.

The Rookery is on the northern side of the harbour. It is the most cramped and messy area of the Old Town and a den of crime and sin. The headquarters of the thieves can be found here, as can many fences and houses of ill repute. It is also said that most of the spellcasters of Courite hide here. -

Petite Nardigena: Part of the New City, populated mainly by emigrated Clementians.

The Cimitiere Vieux is within the second wall - The New Town was the foulburg of the city until 6558, when the second wall was completed.

The Foulburg is the settlements outside the second wall, it is quite small as foulburgs go.

The Cimitiere Nouvaux is outside the second wall, and partially enclosed by the Foulburg.

Inns, eateries and bawdy houses

A few miles outside Courite stands the Fane of Nobility, a temple sacred to Jupiter. It is much hallowed by the aristocracy of Avation. The temple complex includes a school, a hospital, large gardens, stables, and manors for its most important priests. The temple itself is of white marble, and has a tile roof covered with gold leaf. Statues of the ten kings of Avation stand in its courtyard.
